Helen M. Maedge, 95 of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Heritage Health in Gillespie. She was born on Saturday, March 5, 1927, in Hillsboro. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Lyerla.
She was married to Robert E. Maedge Sr. on February 20, 1946, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis in St. Louis, MO. Robert Preceded Helen in death on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
Helen was an administrative assistant for the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades for over 20 years. She was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton and was previously of member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston.
Helen is survived by two sons, Robert E. Maedge Jr, his wife Jorene of Staunton and Mark L. Maedge, his wife Karen of Benson, AZ; four grandchildren, Aaron Maedge of Lafayette, IN, Tami Ponce de Leon of Sacramento, CA, Nicole Duncan of Colonial Heights, VA, and Alison Maedge of San Diego, CA; one great-granddaughter, Emma Ponce de Leon; three great-grandsons, Ethan Carr, Austin Carr, and Jaxon Duncan;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; grandson, Eric Maedge; sister, Annie Hooker; and three brothers, Lee Martin, Warren Lyerla, and Lyle Lyerla.
A private funeral mass for Helen Maedge will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston with Fr. Thomas Hagstrom officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery near Livingston.
