Isaac Stephen Schmidt, 26 of Mt. Olive, formerly of Litchfield, after a 7-month fight against cancer, died in Christ on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 3:05 pm at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Isaac was born in Chicago on March 14, 1996, the second of four sons born to Pastor Stephen and Sarah Schmidt. He was baptized into Christ on Palm Sunday, March 31, 1996, at Emmaus Lutheran Church. He confirmed his baptismal faith on Reformation Day, October 31, 2010, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Litchfield.
Isaac was homeschooled K-12 by his mother. He was a trombonist in the Litchfield school bands and was very active in 4H. He worked as a paper carrier for the Litchfield News-Herald and as a grill cook at Maverick Steak and Spirits. He received his associate of arts degree from Lincoln Land in 2016. In 2019, he received a bachelor’s degree from Bethany Lutheran College, Mankato, MN, where he met his wife, Bailey. After college, he was employed by Litchfield National Bank and later by Ashley Furniture in Edwardsville.

(Rogotzke) were joined in holy matrimony on July 29, 2018. On February 1, 2022,
God blessed the marriage with their son, Jeshua Isaac.
Isaac dearly loved his wife and son and was a dedicated husband and father. He loved his family, his church and his many friends. He especially loved Christ his Savior. His hobbies included reading, writing, playing trombone and gaming with friends.
He was preceded in death by his
maternal grandfather, Jeffry Post, and his father-in-law, Rodney “Rocky”
Rogotzke.
He is survived by his wife, Bailey; their son, Jeshua; parents, Rev. Stephen Mark and Sarah Ione (Post) Schmidt; brothers, Andrew (Rachel) Schmidt of Litchfield, Aaron Schmidt of Carbondale, and Jonathan Schmidt of Litchfield; grandparents, Dennis and Judith Schmidt of Minnesota and LoAnn Twedt of Litchfield; nephews, Connor, Oliver, Kase and Vinny; and one niece, Allie; mother-in-law, Susi Rogotzke; brothers-in-law, Brady (Jennifer) Rogotzke of Tampa, FL and Logan (Bailey) Rogotzke of Minot, ND; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services for Isaac will be conducted Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 12 noon at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The deceased’s father, Pastor Stephen Schmidt of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Litchfield will officiate and burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials to the family of Isaac Schmidt, c/o Bailey M. Schmidt.
