Paul Wayne Widner, 67 of Eagerville, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 2:10 p.m. in Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield. He was born on July 18, 1954, a son of George S. Widner and Edna M. Fergurson.
He was a 1972 graduate of Carlinville High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married the former Deborah Jean Heltsley on July 3, 1990, in Malvern, AR. She survives.
Mr. Widner was employed by M & M Service Company as a truck driver. He was a member of both the American Legion Post 436 and the VFW Post 3912 where he helped with Bingo, grounds and maintenance and Party in the Park. He enjoyed collecting ballcaps and traveling with his wife.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Widner is survived by his children, Leslee Hinrichs of Montana, Ginger (Rich) Kroll of Litchfield, Lila (Steve) Abberley of Pana, David Jones Jr. of Pana, Cari M. Widner of Tennessee, and Harley Widner of Henderson, IL; four sisters, Mary A. Young, Lucy A. Perkins, Lillian R. Hemken, and Wanda J. Widner; eight grandchildren, Michael Jones and Levi Kroll, both of of Litchfield, Steven Kroll of St. Louis, MO, Taylor Abberley, Jackie McElhiney and Elizabeth Abberley, all of Pana, Tyler Jones of Martinsville, IL, Kayla Jones of Ohio, and Kolten Evenson; Baylee and R.J. Learn II, all of Montana; six great-grandchildren, Madilynn, Lydiah and Logan Jones, Jaxson Kroll, Hayden Abberley, and Amelia McElhiney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, James S. Widner, Russell M. Widner, G. Steve Widner, and Harriet M. Stewart.
Memorial services for Mr. Widner will be held on Tuesday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
