Rev. Wilfrid Martin Alfred Frick, 98, of Litchfield, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at 1:50 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro. He was born in Waterloo on December 13, 1924, a son of Rev. Reimar Arthur and Magdalene Joanne (Schmidt) Frick.
Rev. Frick graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, in 1949, with a Bachelors of Arts in Theology and a Masters of Divinity. He was ordained in Oliver, British Columbia, Canada, in the Evangelical Lutheran Synod Church.
His pastoral career spanned 52 years until his retirement in 2001. He served churches in Trail, BC, Canada, Clyman, WI, Fertile, Fortile and Ulen, MN, and Parkersburg, IA, from where he originally retired. He and his wife came out of retirement to lead a new start-up church in Litchfield named Faith Lutheran Church, ELS. He went into final retirement in 2001.
Rev. Frick married the former Elvira Zimdars on July 25, 1954, in Watertown, WI. Mrs. Frick passed away March 26, 2016. Rev. Frick is survived by three sisters, Sylvia Baldwin of Memphis, TN, Helen Wehmeyer of Pleasant Hill, CA, and Anita (Rev. Erhart) Bauer of Portland, OR; a sister-in-law, Elsie Frick of Duluth, GA; 18 nieces and nephews; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Elvira, and
his parents, Rev. Frick was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Frick and
Ralph Frick, and two sisters, Marian Frick and Evelyn Becker.
Funeral services for Rev. Frick will
be held Saturday, January 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in
Litchfield, IL. The Revered Stephen
Schmidt, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, ACLC of Litchfield will officiate.
Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from
10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family suggests memorials in
memory of Rev. Frick to the Grace Lutheran Church of Litchfield.
