Robert Eugene “Fuzzy” Jacobs Jr., 70 of Litchfield, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 8:48 p.m. in his home. He was born in Litchfield on July 3, 1951, a son of Robert Eugene and Lovine E. (Varner) Jacobs Sr.
Fuzzy graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1969 and attended Eastern Illinois University-Charleston for two years. He and the former Marsha Arlene Johnson were married on October 25, 1981, and they later divorced. Fuzzy and Jody Michelle (Murray) Shreve were married on September 26, 2020. She survives.
He was employed with the Illinois Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. Fuzzy was a roadie for a popular local band as they traveled around the United States. He owned and operated Fuzzy’s Bar in Litchfield and was co-owner of Litchfield Bowl. Fuzzy was a member of Moose Lodge #1634-Litchfield and Am Vets Post #16.
Fuzzy was a well-known LHS athlete both in football and basketball. He enjoyed playing volleyball, slow-pitch softball, golf, hunting, fishing, and bowling. He also enjoyed playing Texas Hold ’Em, shooting pool and shooting competitive archery for several years. He was the girls’ golf coach for Hillsboro High School for several years. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Fuzzy is survived by his mother, Lovine Jacobs of Litchfield; son, Wade (Elizabeth) Jacobs of Litchfield; daughter, Sara (Gavin) Pau of Gillespie; step-son, William Shreve of Standard City; stepdaughters, Michelle (Jason) Glowacki of Bailey, CO, Alexis Milanos of Claremont, IL, Blaire Crays of Holt, FL, and Bridgette Shreve of Litchfield; brother, Mark (Patty) Jacobs of Litchfield; sisters, Connie Childers of Hillsboro and Jill (Bill) Wyatt of Litchfield; grandchildren, Cade, Zander, Devin, Jillian, Vidalia, Jaylaan, Brendan, Ephraim, Taylor, Emmery, Owen, Kyra, Brawly, Harper, Lily, and Layden; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Fuzzy was
preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Zyan Bishop.
A memorial
service will be held at a later date.
The family
asks that memorials be directed to Jody Jacobs to help with expenses.
