Roxanne Lynn Gregory, 59 of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born on Wednesday, November 14, 1962 in Staunton. She was the daughter of Walter L.“Bud” and Darlene A. (Dworzynski) Renko.
She was married to Robert H. Gregory on December 29, 1998, in New Orleans, LA. Roxanne was a legal assistant/paralegal for over 35 years and worked as the office manager for the Law Office of Robert H. Gregory located in East Alton. She was passionate about many issues of importance to her including environmental protection, protection for victims of domestic violence, alleviation of hunger and poverty in her community, prevention of child physical and sexual abuse, and the preservation of women’s reproductive rights in Illinois.
Over the years, she advocated for those causes, providing time, effort and monetary contributions to improve the lives of others. Roxanne was also a past member of the Staunton Lions Club and contributed time to the Staunton Food Pantry and Staunton Helping Hands.
Roxanne was most passionate, however, about her love for her family and her friends, and the desire to help others. She enjoyed yoga, flower gardening, fishing and hiking. She was a certified yoga instructor and was a Nia White Belt. She also loved to read and enjoyed music and the arts. She helped found and was an active participant of a local book club that meets monthly at the Staunton VFW.
Roxanne is survived by her husband, Robert H. Gregory of Staunton; sons, Cory (wife, Natalie) Tally of Worden, Stephen (wife, Katie) Gregory of O’Fallon, IL and Bobby (wife, Ashley) Gregory of Morrisville, NC; grandchildren, Christian Tally, Richter, Emery, and Palmer Gregory; her mother, Darlene A. Renko of Moro; brothers, Mark L. Renko of St. Charles, MO, Duane A. (wife, Angela) Renko of Edwardsville, and Ryan J. Renko of Holiday Shores; father and mother-in-law, William and Evelyn Gregory of Lebanon; sister-in-law, Marsha Weston-Fiss of Belleville; and her niece, Michelle (husband, Bryan) Roy.
Roxanne was preceded in death by her father, Walter L.”Bud” Renko, and brother-in-law, Jan Fiss.
It was Roxanne’s wish and that of her family, that her body be cremated.
A private family celebration be held at a later date.
