Terry Olyn Brockmeyer, 74 of Raymond, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, in his home. Mr. Brockmeyer was born on August 3, 1947 in Springfield a son of Olyn A. Brockmeyer and Mary Elizabeth (VanGeison).
He was a 1965 graduate of Lincolnwood High School and a 1969 graduate of the University of Illinois receiving double degrees in Animal Science and Farm Management. He married the former Virginia Lee Boehler on September 3, 1966, at St. Mary’s Rectory in Farmersville. She survives.
During his lifetime, he was a hog farmer, feed salesman for Moorman Feeds, a rural letter carrier, and a corrections officer at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro. Mr. Brockmeyer attended St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond and was a member of the Raymond Riders Bicycle Club.
He enjoyed playing pickleball, home brewing beer, traveling with his wife Ginny, and raising miniature daschunds. Terry was a 4-H leader, first president of the Raymond-Harvel Sports Association and coached Little League baseball and middle school volleyball. He played on the highly successful 1965 Lincolnwood High School basketball team. Terry thoroughly enjoyed following his grandchildren’s sports events and was an avid fan of U of I basketball and SIU-C women’s basketball.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, he is survived by three sons, Korey (Dana) Brockmeyer, Chad (Lisa) Brockmeyer all of Raymond, and Seth (Dara) Brockmeyer of Normal; two daughters, Kristie (Jeff) Ochs of Bethalto and Cara (Dave) Drabing of Chatham; grandchildren, Nick Brockmeyer, Abby Brockmeyer, Nate Brockmeyer, Carly Brockmeyer, Willa Brockmeyer, Leo Brockmeyer, Jack McKinney, Eli McKinney, Annika Ochs, Blake Rogers, Brock Rogers, and Olivia Drabing; great-grandson, Waylon Rogers; brother, Tracy Brockmeyer of Bloomington; two sisters, Cheryl Fischer of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Tammy (Ben Ortega) Welcome of Oakland, CA; step-mother, Gertrude “Gert” Brockmeyer of Litchfield; two step-brothers, Danny (Marty) Nantkes of Lake of the Ozarks, MO and Gregory (Sheri) Nantkes of Worden; and four step-sisters, Cheryl Nantkes of Raymond, Carol (Mike) Hampton of Waggoner, Jo Ellen Lyons of Glenarm, and Susan (Jim) Aherin of Farmersville.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Brockmeyer was preceded in
death by his step-sister, Judy Henry.
Funeral mass for Mr. Brockmeyer will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 12 noon at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond. Father John Burnette will preside and burial will be in the St. Raymond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at St. Raymond’s. Dinner will follow at the Raymond Knights of Columbus Hall.
The family asks for memorials to be made to the Panhandle Food Pantry or Waggoner Centennial Building Fund. Plummer Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
