An officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Gillespie Street in reference to finding two ATV’s.
An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of East Oak Street in reference to an animal complaint. Ronald R. Arnold, 37 of Gillespie, was issued two citations for a dog running at large.
An officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Madison Street in reference to an animal complaint. Ryan D. Shoger, 38 of Gillespie, was issued a citation for a dog running at large.
An officer initiated a traffic stop at South Main Street and Spruce Street in Benld. Roger C. Conlee Jr., 54 of Annapolis, Missouri, was issued citations for no registration, operating an uninsured vehicle, and no driver’s license.
An officer, during his normal patrols in Benld, located someone trespassing in the 400 block of South Illinois Street. Amy S. Odle, 51 of Greenville, was given a warning of no trespassing.

Michael W. Griffith, 45, of Gillespie, was arrested on a Macoupin County warrant for failure to appear for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
An officer initiated a traffic stop at North Lincoln Street and East Eagarville Road in Eagarville. Denae L. Clements, 32, of Gillespie, was arrested for driving on suspended registration, expired registration, and possession of a controlled substance.

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announces that it will be awarding over $58,000 in college scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2026-2027 academic year.
The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books, and fees only. The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning, full-time. Online learning is also acceptable.
Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl will be awarding one scholarship in the amount of $500.
There will be no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex, or national origin. The only limitations are applicants must be a permanent Illinois resident and students must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2026-2027 school year, excluding summer session.
Applications are available at the sheriff’s office located at 215 South East Street, Carlinville or on the ISA website. Students must complete the application, answer the essay question, and return all documentation to the sheriff’s office by March 13.
