On February 25, 2023, at around 1:28 pm, Macoupin County Dispatch received reports of a male who had been shot and a possible female fatality in Shipman. Upon arrival at 538 Young Lane in Shipman, deputies found the deceased female, Theresa Kimbro, as well as a dog that had been shot in the home. There were reports of a white truck allegedly leaving the scene, according to Macoupin County.
tate’s Attorney Jordan Garrison announced on September 26 that Jacob T. Kimbro, Sr., a former resident of Bethalto, had pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Theresa Kimbro. The plea was entered in front of Judge Joshua A. Meyer, and Jacob Kimbro is currently held at the Macoupin County Jail.
Attorney Jordan Garrison expressed, “The defendant’s admission to this heinous act is one more step towards justice for Theresa. I offer my condolences to her family and friends on their loss. I want to thank Sheriff Shawn Kahl’s Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department, specifically Deputy Jake Zimmer, Sgt. Matt Marburger, and Lt. Det. Ryan Dixon, and Sheriff Jeff Connor’s Madison County Sheriff’s Department, specifically Deputy Mack Waldman and Andrew Bode, for their efforts in apprehending and investigating this matter.”
The hearing is set for October 23, and Jacob Kimbro faces a potential sentence of 20-60 years in prison. If given the maximum sentence, he would not be eligible for parole until February of 2073.
