Tropical Sno opens today at 6 p.m., April 15, to start their 14th season under the ownership of Margaret and Charlie Wayman.
After the area has been treated to a warm wave of weather, the Waymans’ are opening their doors this year earlier than expected. The business made the announcement via their Facebook page on Monday night after they opened for a preview. Their hours during April and May when school is in session will be 6-9 p.m. during the week and 2-9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Tropical Sno has been in the Gillespie area for the last 22 years, according to Margaret, with the last 14 years under the ownership of Margaret and Charlie. The couple bought the business in spring of 2002 after the business went unsold over the winter of 2001-2002 and have been shaping shaved ice since.
With over 150 flavor combinations, they surely have something that will hit the spot on any day. New to “The Sno” this year are two flavors, birthday cake and blue Hawaiian, along with a new flavor combination, strawberry shortcake. Strawberry shortcake features the newly introduced birthday cake flavor paired with strawberry and Sno cream. Prices are still very reasonable with a small costing $2.50, medium $3.00 and large $3.50. Spill stopper cups are always available for fifty cents more.
Returning this season behind the ice machine will be Margaret, Bailey Jarman and Mackenzie Bryant.
