Cancer Benefit for Jay Witt

Carlinville, IL, October 3, 2012 – There will be a Benefit for Jay Witt, who has been diagnosed with cancer, at the Carlinville Moose Lodge on November 3, 2012.

Jay Witt was diagnosed with bladder cancer in November, 2011.  He has undergone several surgeries and treatments.  He has had complications and in September was told the cancer has returned.

There will be a benefit to help Jay and Debbie with the medical costs incurred to fight this disease.  The event will be at the Carlinville Moose Lodge on November 3, 2012.  Tickets can be purchased before the event or at the door.   The dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. with pork loin, chicken, sides, and desserts being served.  The tickets will be $10 per person, $5 for children under the age of eleven.  After the meal there will be a live auction, silent auction, and several raffles.

Benefit to support Gillespie resident

Friends and family of Gillespie resident, Jim Duncan, will host a benefit for him on Saturday, September 29, at the Brittany Shooting Park located of Gillespie off Route 16.  Jim has been battling Stomach and Esophageal Cancer since February, 2012.

After undergoing chemo and radiation treatment for seven weeks, surgery was performed on June 15.  Jim is now recuperating at home before his next round of extensive chemo.  He will also have to undergo surgery and therapy on his vocal cords.

Jim is the son of the late David and Ruth Duncan of Gillespie.  He is married to Theresa (Brown) Duncan, the daughter of the late Morgan and Marie Brown of Gillespie.  Both Jim and Theresa are lifelong residents of Gillespie and reside just north of town.  Jim is a retired auto mechanic from Drew Ford in Gillespie and Theresa is a retired teacher from Litchfield High School.

On Saturday, September 29, there will be a trap shoot and washer tournament beginning at 3 p.m. at Brittany Shooting Park.  At 5 p.m., attendees will have an opportunity to browse through the auction items and purchase 50/50 and raffle tickets.

A hog roast will be donated by the Doyle family of Hickory Grove Pork Farm and Fema will be catering a buffet dinner starting at 6 p.m.  A live auction will be held after dinner and Southern Blend Band will perform starting at 8 p.m. playing old rock and roll music and popular country western favorites.

Tickets for the event cost $30 for couples, $20 for singles over age 21, and $10 for singles under age 21.  This covers the cost of admission, dinner, beer, setups, and an evening of dancing.  Tickets may be purchased at the following businesses: Fema’s Catering, Benld; Drew Ford, Gillespie; Accents Flower Shop, Gillespie; Bunker Hill Chiropractic, Bunker Hill; and Victory Lane Ford, Litchfield.

Kaiden’s Kause

Please join us for a benefit for Kaiden Scott McCracken

Kaiden Scott McCracken

Kaiden is 2yrs old and fell ill in November 2011. He had a 2.2lbs malignant rhabdoid tumor removed from his liver in December 2011. Kaiden is still undergoing chemotherapy, and continues to spend time in the hospital due to this fact. His parents are Aaron and Tiffany McCracken, they also have two other young children they are tending too. We all can imagine their massive expenses. Let’s help this little man with his long road of recovering!

The benefit will take place at the Mt.Olive Old Lake Pavillion starting at 4:00pm this Saturday, August 18. Tickets will be $10.00 per person or $15.00 per couple, children 10 and under are free. There will be various foods available to eat with soda and water to drink. Feel free to bring your own cooler with your refreshment of choice.

The band Hard Drive will be in attendance from 5pm-7:30pm and dj/karaoke with Tonya Hogan will pick up at 8:00pm. There will be a 50/50 drawing $1.00 per ticket or $5.00 for 6 with a silent auction as well. Of course, some prizes will be given at random based on attendance.
