Death of Altafay C. “Fay” Jarvis
Altafay C. “Fay” Jarvis, 79, of Gillespie, IL died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 12:45 pm at her residence. She was born on November 11, 1932 in East St. Louis, IL to Richard Bradshaw and Clara (Jackson) Bradshaw.
She married William Delbert Jarvis on May 13, 1949 in East Carondelet, IL. Her husband preceded her in death on October 7, 2006. She was a current member at Trinity Baptist Church in Gillespie, IL.
Altafay leaves behind her children: Wayne Jarvis (Vicki) of Goreville, IL, Dick Jarvis (Anne) of Commack, NY, James Jarvis (Sherri LaCroix) of East Carondelet, IL, Brenda Dixon (Bruce) of Browder, KY, Marilyn Henderson (Dwight) of Gillespie, IL, Pamela Pulcher (Finacee Lee Grantham) of High Ridge, MO, grandchildren: Keith Dixon, Justin Jarvis, Jason Rea, Steven Jarvis, Jason Jarvis, Michael Jarvis, Jaime Whalen, Brian Henderson, great-grandchildren: Gunnar Dixon, Kenzie Dixon, Jason Rea, Jr., Alizjah Jarvis, Brothers, Marvin Bradshaw of Dupo, IL, Autie Bradshaw of Vinton, VA, sisters: Mildred Pulcher of Murphysboro, IL, Stella Schmid of East Carondelet, IL, and her cat, Sammy.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, her daughter: Linda Sue Jarvis, her son: Randy Marvin Jarvis, great-grandchildren: Dylyn & Kylyn Rea, brothers: Samuel Bradshaw, Harold Bradshaw, and sisters: Marie Koehler and Ruby Davis.
Visitation is set for Friday, June 22, 2012 at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
The funeral will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie, IL. Burial will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL. Rev. Richard Hill will be ministering the services. The family suggests memorials be made out to TIP Hospice, Carlinville, IL.

Lois Ilaine Erspamer Sawyer, 94 of Gillespie, died at her residence on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 9:51 am. She was born on February 9, 1930, in Gillespie to Louis Poi and Bertha Annetta Sunman Poi Lewis.
She married John Peter Erspamer on September 4, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1989. She married Dempsey Sawyer on May 15, 1993, and he preceded her in death in 2016. She had been a bookkeeper for Duracraft and Daley’s Chevrolet. Lois enjoyed reading, gardening, painting, drawing, cooking, traveling, bird watching, adventures, her family and her beloved cat, Molly.
She is survived by her children, Ann (Timm) LaRoche of Gillespie, Joan (Paul) Alexander of Gillespie, and Lynn Erspamer of Litchfield; grandchildren, Shannon (David) Wright of Gillespie, Suzanne (companion, Josh) DeMartini of Madisonville, KY, Jared (Amanda) Johnson of Staunton, Adam (Ashli) Alexander of Gillespie, Travis (Laura) Mize of Dallas, TX, Britini Bernardini of Nokomis, and Marissa (Jacob) Summers of Litchfield; great grandchildren, Macie, Isabel and Alexander Wright, Joseph and Gino DeMartini, Brianna Johnson, Ansley Alexander, Lucas and Jeffrey Bernardini, Fisher, Sabrina and Gabriella Crow; great great grandchild, Dominic Joseph “DJ” DeMartini; sisters, Patricia Thompson of Carmel, IN, Phyllis Dodd of Pooler, GA, and Marion Boston of Springfield; and brothers, Ernie Lewis of Carbondale and Fred Lewis of Ft Meyers, FL.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, spouses, and brother, John Lewis.
Private services will be held. Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie is in charge of the arrangements.
