Arno Barth, 97, of Bunker Hill, IL, died at Heritage Health of Staunton, IL on August 8, 2013 at 7:05 pm. He was born on May 5, 1916, in Shipman, IL to Louis Barth & Anna (Schoeneman) Barth. Arno married Dorothy A. (Weiseman) Barth on June 22, 1940, St Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2012.
He was a carpenter and owner/operator of Barth Lake. Mr. Barth was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Bunker Hill, IL. He enjoyed fishing and outdoors.
Arno is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Jim) Hlafka of Bunker Hill, IL, Janice (Robert) Portugal of Staunton, IL, 6 grandchildren, Mike (Michele) Hlafka of Alton, IL, Dr. Martri Hlafka of Springfield, IL, Jeff Grandone of Gillespie, IL, Jason (Megan) Grandone of Glen Carbon, IL, Lindsey Portugal of New Douglas, IL, Ryan Portugal of Staunton, IL, 9 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Michaela, Ashlyn, Trent, Luke, Jacob, Emily, Sophia, Preston, brother, William “Buck” (Dolores) Barth of Bunker Hill, IL & sister in law, Wilma Barth of Glen Carbon, IL.
In addition to his parents & spouse, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Barth.
Friends may call on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bunker Hill from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. His funeral service will be Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill, IL with Pastor Terry Grebing officiating. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill, IL. Memorials suggested to Zion Lutheran Church of Bunker Hill, IL.
