Death of Betty June Wolff

Betty June Wolff, 83, of Bunker Hill, IL, died at Heritage Health of Gillespie, IL on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 4:50 pm. She was born on September 2, 1929, in Alton, IL to Herbert Masterson & Opal Marie (Covey). Betty married Willis C. Wolff, Jr. on November 11, 1951, Zion Lutheran Church, Bunker Hill, IL. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2009.

She was a homemaker as well as having worked many years at Rull Hardware in Bunker Hill, IL. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Bunker Hill where she also took part in the Ladies of Zion, Altar Guild, Vacation Bible School and worked in the kitchen. Betty was a member of the Red Hat Ladies.

She was a very social person who enjoyed playing cards, the Alton Theater and spending the winters in Texas with her husband. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Charles David (Marla) Wolff of Bunker Hill, IL, daughter, Cynthia Sue (Dan) Bushmeyer of Redmond, WA, 8 grandchildren, Thomas Wolff of Bunker Hill, IL, Cassandra Wolff of Oakland, CA, Niccole (Mike) Garner of Alton, IL, Cody Wolff of Bunker Hill, IL, Wade (Brittany) Hurley of Bunker Hill, IL, Miriam Wolff of Bunker Hill, IL, Troy (Fiancée, Jessica Cobral) Bushmeyer of Snoqualmie, WA, Jessica Bushmeyer of Redmond, WA, 5 great-grandchildren, Sylas Hurley, Wren Hurley, Lilly Garner, Iyla Garner, Gabriel Bushmeyer, sisters, Shirley (Dean) Stiegemeier of Godfrey, IL, Connie Ketzel of Chandler, AZ, 2 sister in laws, Dorothy Goebel of Prairetown, IL, Marian Owen of Bunker Hill, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and spouse, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Junior Masterson and brother in law, Ken Ketzel.

Friends may call on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bunker Hill from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Bunker Hill from 11:00 am until the time of services.

Her funeral service will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill, IL with Rev. Terry Grebing officiating. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church of Bunker Hill, IL .

Obituary of Darlene Joyce Large

Darlene Joyce Large, 86 of Bunker Hill, died at St. Anthony’s Hospital on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 9:14 am. She was born on August 21, 1939, in Shipman to George L. Baker and Eva B. Smith Baker.  

She married Lester O. Large on May 10, 1958, in Piasa. She was a homemaker who enjoyed flea markets, antiques, flowers and gardening.  

She is survived by her spouse, Lester Large of Bunker Hill; children, Brian (Stephanie) Large of Bunker Hill and Carolyn (Matthew) Kasten of Brighton; grandchildren, Adam Kasten, Brianna (Joshua) Dupont, and Alyssa Kasten; great-grandchild, Bryson Dupont; and siblings, Dan Baker of Bunker Hill, Georgia Bray of Shipman, and Geneva Quirk of Shipman.  

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Henry Baker, Lloyd Baker, Guy Baker, Roy Baker and Robert Baker.  

Friends may call on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at First Congregational Church, Bunker Hill from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. Funeral services are Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 12:00 pm at First Congregational Church in Bunker Hill.  

Burial will be at Woodburn Cemetery, Woodburn. Memorials are suggested to First Congregational Church or American Diabetes Association. Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill is in charge of the arrangements.

Obituary of Robert Leeroy Blevins

Robert Leeroy Blevins, 77 of Litchfield, passed away the evening of Thursday, November 20, 2025, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. He was born in Litchfield on December 24, 1947, a son of Robert James and Betty Bernadine (Cranford) Blevins.

He graduated from Centralia High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was employed for many years as a cabinet maker with Adenca Manufacturing in Litchfield. Robert enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and looking for buried treasures with his metal detector.

He was a talented musician and played guitar and saxophone. Robert enjoyed watching and listening to all spectator sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He married the former Wanda Kay Large and they later divorced.

Robert is survived by sons, Christopher (fiancée Grace) Blevins and Jason (Jamie) Blevins, all of Litchfield; daughters, Jennifer (Gordon) Fenton of Salem, MO and Shannon Large of Litchfield; brothers, Chesley Blevins of Staunton, Joseph Blevins of Litchfield, Floyd Blevins of Highland, and Fred Blevins of Litchfield; sisters, Barbara (Ray) Schuster of Sorento, Sharon (John) Wickerheim of Chicago, and Pamela Poppenhouse of Litchfield; and several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Betty B. Blevins.

Funeral services for Mr. Blevins will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Pastor Gilbert Dealey will officiate. Burial will be in Crabtree Cemetery. Military honors will be at graveside. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Robert Blevins, c/o Christopher Blevins. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.

Obituary of Joyce Carleen Simmons

Joyce Carleen Simmons, 83 of Litchfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 23, 2025. She was born in Pana on May 31, 1942, a daughter of Carl Cornelius and Lucille Romelta (Miller) Brakenhoff.

She was a member of the Litchfield High School graduating class of 1960. She married Raymond “Larry” Simmons on June 6, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, and they enjoyed nearly 55 years of marriage until his passing on January 23, 2022.

Joyce was an excellent cook and well known for her beef and noodles, Texas cake, and stew. Joyce’s delicious cooking skills were evident during her 22-year career as manager of Jubelt’s Variety Bakery in Litchfield and as a ten-year cafeteria worker for the Litchfield Community School District #12. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, tending to her fruit trees, and sewing. Joyce enjoyed serving others by teaching Sunday School at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and volunteering for the local Meals on Wheels.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Raymond (Vicki) Simmons of Evansville, IN and David (Jacqueline) Simmons of Haymarket, VA; daughter, Laura Simmons of Edwardsville; brothers, Leslie (Sue) Brakenhoff of Litchfield, Byron (Terry) Brakenhoff of Chattanooga, TN, and Dale (Nancy) Brakenhoff of Litchfield; sisters, Ramona Warman of Charleston, IL and Marilyn (Don) Loptien of Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren, Zachary Simmons, Makenzie (Jeremy) Frazier, Emma Simmons, and William Simmons; and great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Wyatt, Eli and Calla.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Rev. Larry Brakenhoff and Bernard Brakenhoff; brother-in-law Robert, “Bob” Warman; and niece, Kimberly (Brakenhoff) Bergman.

Funeral services for Joyce will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
