Donald Harold Hartsook, 79, of Carlinville, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Donnie was born on December 4, 1944, in Carlinville, to Harold and Maxine (Turner) Hartsook.
Donnie graduated from Virden High School with the class of 1963. Donnie married Dolores Moore in June of 1965, and they had a son, Darrin Scott Hartsook, in September of 1966, and in October of 1986, Donnie married Carol Brown.
Donnie will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. The wisdom, friendship, and joy will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Donnie’s commitment to his family, friends, and church was unwavering. He lived life to the fullest and was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life with an understanding of what was important and the simplicity of living life with those you love. His love for family, friends, and the St. Louis Cardinals was true and indisputable.
Donnie drove a semi for many years but enjoyed farming and farm life. He was a member of Charity Church and the caretaker of the church grounds for many years. Donnie had a passion of the outdoors. He loved to hunt, especially hog hunting every year in Texas with his dad, brothers, son, grandson, and nephews. He also enjoyed his hunting trips with his friends. Donnie will be lovingly remembered, forever missed, and never forgotten by all who knew and loved him.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Gregg Hartsook.
Donnie is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Carol Hartsook of Carlinville, son, Darrin Hartsook (Denise Turner) of Carlinville, son, Benny Hartsook of Carlinville, daughter, Georgiana (Jason) Little of Texas, six grandchildren; Jessie (Katie) Hartsook, Kasara Lovely, Kristen Little (Riley Nelson), Ryan Little, Ian Little, and Cora Little, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jerry Hartsook of Carlinville, and David (Linda) Hartsook of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Charity Baptist Church, Carlinville, with Rev. Gary Harding officiating and Rev. John Truax as the eulogist. Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery, Carlinville.
