Death of Frank A. Grichnik

Published

on

Frank A. Grichnik, 81 of Carlinville, passed away Friday afternoon, September 6, 2024, at his residence in Carlinville. Frank was born August 7, 1943, in Springfield, a son of Victor and Bernice (Ziment) Grichnik.

Frank graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1961. He married Dianna Bettis in 1963 and was later divorced. He married Ann Levi on November 12, 1988, in Carlinville. Frank had two great loves in his life: farming and family. For over 50 years, he tended the land he was raised on and was able to join the angels from the farm he cared for so tenderly. He loved his work, but it wasn’t just what he did—it was who he was. The only thing to bring him more joy than farming was his family. He was immensely proud of his sons and cherished his only daughter, with whom he had too few years. But perhaps his favorite title of them all was Grandpa. Just this summer, he was able to help teach his youngest grandson how to drive a tractor. He loved God, family, and farming and remained devoted to each throughout all his days.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Joanna Legge Featherstone. Frank is survived by his wife, Ann of Carlinville, son, Dr. Anthony (Heather) Grichnik of Eureka, son, Michael (Laura) Grichnik of Peoria, son, William (Viktorija) Legge of Springfield, seven grandchildren, and sister, Judy (Tom) Vogel of Gulf Shores, AL.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Carlinville United Methodist Church, Carlinville. Burial will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville.
