Joseph Thunhorst, 68, of University City, MO, formerly of Litchfield, IL, died at his residence on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at 11:59 a.m. He was born on June 26, 1946, in Litchfield, IL to Byron L. Thunhorst and Mary J. (Arlesic) Thunhorst.
He attended St Louis University and was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church where he was President of the Holy Name Society, organized the washer campaign and golf tournament, and restored the church doors. He was a woodworker by trade and his projects included the restoration of the doors of the historical Ozark Theatre.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Thunhorst, Litchfield, IL; daughters, Gwendolyn Davis, Deborah Wright; grandchildren, Sydney, Henry, Steele; aunts, Rose (Arlesic) Heck, Helen (Arlesic) Lang; cousins, Marianne (Arlesic) Roberson, Patricia (Arlesic) Snow, Michael Arlesic, Robert Brown, Thad Brown, Michelle (Brown) McCracken, Barbara (Brown) Wood, Phillip Brown, John Heck, Mark Heck, Rita (Heck) DeWane, Joseph Heck, Luke Heck, Christopher Heck, Maria (Heck) Ruud, Tom Miller, Marc Miller, Luke Miller, Deanna (Lang) Ebinger and Darrell Johnson.
His father, Byron L. Thunhorst, preceded Joseph in death.
Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Litchfield, IL and St Rita Catholic Church in Vinita Park, MO.
Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
