Shirley A. Hebenstreit, 93 of Staunton, passed away at 10:08 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Litchfield Health & Rehab Center in Litchfield. She was born on June 28, 1931, in Livingston the daughter of the late George and Ann (Kerin) Slifka. She married Adolf A. “Fud” Hebenstreit on June 11, 1955, in Livingston and he passed away on May 29, 2019.
Shirley was a bookkeeper for several local and area businesses for many years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Staunton. She enjoyed shopping, going to the casino, and working at The Thrift Store.
She is survived by one daughter, Kelda (David) DeBarr of Litchfield; one son, David (Debbie) Hebenstreit of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Derek (Megan) DeBarr, Anne (Preston) Hisle, Tyler Hebenstreit, and Trevor Hebenstreit; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Liam, & Harrison Hisle, and Isaac & Samuel DeBarr; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, George Slifka, and two sisters, Jane Meyer and Mary McNair.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton. Funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Staunton with Rev. Thomas Hagstrom officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers’ Association. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
