Shirley D. Johnson, 71, of Bunker Hill died at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. A daughter of Ira Paul Roberts & Mary Lee (Whitt) Roberts, she was born August 31, 1942, in Little Rock, AR. She and Floyd W. Johnson were married August 23, 1973, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill. Shirley was a daughter-in-law to William Otto & Lucille (Forrler) Johnson.
A member of the Woodburn Bible Church, she had worked as a registered nurse at Carlinville Area Hospital and Christian Hospital NE. She loved playing bunko, sudoku, word puzzles, writing poems, singing, reading and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Surviving are three daughters and three sons-in-law, Debbie and Mark Westendorf of Girard, IL, Randi and Mike Helmkamp of Moro, IL, Ember and Tim Jordan of Pacific, MO, a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Anya Johnson of Olathe, KS, nine grandchildren, Erin DeBarr, Colin Johnson, Toby Johnson, Ryan Helmkamp, Phoenix Helmkamp, Nick (Dru) Jordan, Alex Jordan, Tucker Jordan, Kyra Jordan, great-grandchild, Hudson DeBarr, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Maxine Lehman of Bunker Hill, IL, Evelyn Garrett of Woodburn, IL, Pat and King Fleming of Godfrey, IL, Donna and Ron Jungmann of Desoto, Iowa, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Sandy & Jim Bruce of Festus, MO, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Jeri Johnson of Bunker Hill, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, spouse, infant grandson, Adam Douglas Johnson, brother in law, Jack Lehman and a nephew, Travis Armstrong.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013at Woodburn Bible Church in Woodburn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Woodburn Bible Church in Woodburn, IL with Rev. Jon Sander officiating. Private burial will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
Memorials may be given to Woodburn Bible Church or Newborns in Need.
