Tammy K. Bender, 62 of Carlinville, met Jesus on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Tammy was born on September 24, 1960, in Granite City. She was adopted and raised by Harvel and Alva Murray (Ahner) of Carlinville, both preceded her in death.
Tammy had no children of her own but she absolutely loved and adored her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Kenneth Lewis and is survived by her biological mother, Pat Hughes (Ahner). Tammy had six siblings, Jackie Lewis of Girard, Kenneth R. Lewis of Carlinville, Patti Hughes of Girard (deceased), Jami Hughes of Williamsburg, IA, John Lewis of Girard, and Brandi Lewis of Girard.
Tammy loved the Lord. Anyone around her knew she loved Jesus. Tammy loved the Lord’s creations – she enjoyed animals, birds, and all plants. She owned a landscaping business. She loved to have her bare feet in the soil. Tammy not only grew plants, she grew people. She taught many how to love the Lord and how to understand His Word. She was diligent in making sure her prayers were always being said for her family and friends.
She was truly an anointed prayer warrior. Everything was lifted up to the Lord in prayer. She loved to exalt and magnify the Lord’s name and His works by singing and declaring scripture. Her family, friends and pets were so important to Tammy. She loved her dogs and treated them like her babies. She always had a genuine smile for everyone she met. She loved to laugh, and her favorite picture was of Jesus laughing and holding a child. She prayed with authority and knew what the Spirit was saying.
She spent her life as a missionary, here at home and abroad. She graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center, OK. The Kingdom of God was of utmost importance to Tammy. Each person she came across was treated with respect and given her full attention. Tammy loved well and she will be missed.
