Mary Judith “Judy” Woolsey of rural Carlinville died on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 3:15 a.m. in Carlinville.
Judy was born in Granite City on January 31, 1940, the eldest child of Darwin and Zelda (Hicks) Richard. A 1958 graduate of Alton High School, she was employed by Rawlings Athletic Equipment Manufacturing Co. in St. Louis until her marriage to Paul W. Woolsey on September 21, 1959, in Medora.
Judy was a stay-at-home mom of the couple’s five children. She was also a member of the Macoupin County Homemaker’s Extension Association, a sales representative for Home Interiors & Gifts in the ‘70’s, and an Avon representative for over thirty years. Additionally, she and her husband were active members of the Hoedowners Square Dance Club in Wood River.
Judy is survived by her husband, Paul W. Woolsey of Carlinville; children, Valerie (Jerry) Smith of Bunker Hill, Melissa (Tony) Kobiella of Elk Grove Village, Michelle (Jeff) Copas of Liberty Township, OH, Paul R. (Angie) Woolsey of Hettick, and Amy Woolsey of Carlinville; grandchildren, Kristina (Brad) Davenport, Geoff (Rachael Henkhaus) Smith, Danielle (Jacob) Redman, Jacob (Justuce Albertson) Smith, Chris (Bailey) Woolsey, Stephanie Woolsey, Patrick Woolsey, and Morgan Copas; 16 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Lance (Ellen) Richard of Edwardsville, and sister Jacquie Richard-Wahle (Larry Wahle) of Alton.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Brighton City Cemetery, Brighton.
