About Us:
UCB History
United Community Bank has a rich tradition of local history and community involvement. As a result, we take pride in offering the highest level of customer service. We know that our customers expect the very best, and our goal is to meet or exceed those expectations each and every day. So whether you need help opening up a new personal checking account or whether you represent a business needing sophisticated cash management services, UCB’s trained staff is available to help answer all of your questions.
You can call and speak to a personal banker at any one of our locations. If you would prefer to contact us by email, click on the Contact Directory to find a listing of all our employees’ email addresses.
Our story began in 1973, when a local group invested in Farmers State Bank in Greenfield. The goal was to deliver the ultimate in customer service and to acquire other banks in central and southern Illinois. Below is a listing of the banks that have joined our group, along with the year they became part of United Community Bank (UCB).
1973 Farmers State Bank in Greenfield
1978 First National at Bunker Hill
1982 Bank of Pawnee
1985 Chatham Community Bank (Chatham & Loami branches)
1989 People’s State Bank of Gillespie
1996 State Bank of Auburn
Our Springfield branch at Iles and Chatham Road opened as our 12th location in August of 1999. The Springfield branch at 6th & Stevenson opened as UCB’s 13th location in June of 2004. We opened another Springfield branch at Jefferson & Bruns for our 14th location in June of 2005. UCB will open a 15th location in Divernon in 2008.
Always keeping the original “ultimate customer service” objective in mind, UCB has grown to become the leader of community banking. Currently operating in three counties (Sangamon, Greene, & Macoupin), UCB has branches in Springfield, Chatham, Auburn, Greenfield, Bunker Hill, Loami, Gillespie, and Pawnee.
UCB does not answer to any out-of-state management team. Because UCB is employee owned, the bank only has to answer to its customers. In sum, this bank will never change its name or relocate…ever, ever, ever…GUARANTEED.
The bank offers a full range of services…checking and savings accounts, free Internet banking, CDs, IRAs, mortgages, commercial loans, home equity loans, investment products, insurance products, and much more. UCB is a subsidiary of United Community Bancorp, which is a privately held financial institution headquartered in Chatham, Illinois.
