Four Gillespie residents were involved in a three-vehicle accident that happened on Friday, August 7 on Illinois Route 16 near West County Line Road around 12:10 p.m. The other person involved in the accident was from Carlinville.
Illinois State Police said the accident happened when Shannon Cooper, 39 of Gillespie, rear-ended Geneva Armour, 85 of Carlinville, while Armour was letting a vehicle in front of her turn onto West County Line Road. Police said Cooper then went into the oncoming lane of traffic hitting Timm LaRoche, 66, of Gillespie head-on.
Cooper was airlifted from the scene of the accident while her passenger, a 15-year-old male of Gillespie, refused medical attention. Armour also refused medical attention.
LaRoche and his passenger, Ann LaRoche of Gillespie, were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
Police described all injuries as “non-life-threatening” but were unable to release any additional information at the time of publication.
