Gillespie basketball players Evan Price, Nick Price and Amanda Schmidt have been named to the South Central Conference All-Conference teams as chosen by the conference coaches. All three are underclassmen at Gillespie High School and will return to their respected teams next year.
Evan Price, a junior at GHS, achieved the highest honor after being named to the 1st team All-Conference team for the SCC conference. Evan, a 6’1” point guard for the Miners, averaged 15 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 3.8 assists per game.
Price shared the 1st team honor with Will Schaufelberger and Craig Faulkner of Greenville; Dylan Miller of Hillsboro; Tyler Rose of Southwestern; and Trace Gentry of Roxana.
Nick Price was named to the 3rd team SCC All-Conference team after finishing his first year of varsity action. Nick matches Evan in height at 6’1” and is a forward for the boys’ team. He averaged 14.5 points per game, 2.1 rebounds per game and 0.8 assists per game.
Both Evan and Nick were both named to the All-Tournament teams during the Carlinville Holiday Tournament and the Macoupin County Tournament.
A classmate of Nick’s, Amanda Schmidt was named to the girls’ All-Conference third team after recently finishing her sophomore year with the Lady Miners. Schmidt was also named to the All-Tournament teams during the Carlinville Holiday Tournament and the Macoupin County Tournament and averaged 11 points per game for the team last season.
Schmidt also recorded 3.8 rebounds per game, 2.4 steals per game and 1.8 assists per game.
The SSC All-Conference 1st team for the girls was Talesha Scott of Carlinville, Carly Cameron of Hillsboro, Abby Brockmeyer of Litchfield, Madison Greeling of Southwestern and Maddy Sheraka of Roxana.
