Gillespie High School honored their senior basketball players, band members, cheerleaders and dance team members Friday evening prior to the start of the basketball team’s final home game of the season versus Staunton.
The Miners, who head to regionals this week, only have three seniors on their 2014-2015 squad – Jacob Alepra, Josh Friese and Quentin Zenner. The trio, who were playing on their home court for the last time, all started the game and helped Gillespie to an early lead over the Staunton Bulldogs.
Gillespie (18-11) started the game with the lead with the help of four free throws, but had trouble converting on the offensive end scoring only eight points in the first quarter with three coming from senior Quentin Zenner.
