The Gillespie girls cross country team won a 13-team invitational at Southwestern last Saturday with most athletes running their personal bests.
Top five team scores were Gillespie 9, Jerseyville 12, Litchfield 12, Marquette 17, Southwestern 25. Five Lady Miners received medals for placing in the top three of their flight competition. Eight flights were run with each flight running only one athlete from each school.
Erika Gill placed third in flight 1 with a time of 20:57. Brynn Baker placed second in flight 2 with a time of 22:00. Katie Polo placed fifth in flight 3 with a time of 23:36. Mia Brawner placed first in flight 4 with a time of 23:17. Autumn Smith placed second in flight 5 with a time of 26:39. Lily Brown placed first in flight 7 with a time of 27:20. The boys team of Luke and Levi Hatlee also did well. Luke placed seventh in flight 3 with a time of 20:34 and Levi placed sixth in flight 4 with a time of 21:22.
