GMS/HS Library to Host Scholastic Book Fair

Gillespie, IL –The Gillespie Middle School/High School Library will host a special Book Fair from Scholastic on Thursday, April 26th from 3:00pm to 7:00 pm to help raise funds for books and resources for the library and classrooms.
This event is a Family Night with door prizes. It will feature a wide range of books for young teens and adults, including the latest bestsellers from more than 100 publishers. Parents, children, teachers, and the community are invited to attend.
The GMS Student Council members helped to plan the Fair and will also help run it. From creating special promotions and merchandising displays to managing inventory and assisting shoppers with their selections, these students learn real-life skills while helping to make reading for pleasure a cool activity at their school.
Fair attendees can help build classroom libraries by purchasing books for teachers through the Classroom Wish List program. Also, don’t’ forget to donate loose change to the One for Books® program created by Scholastic Book Fairs, which will be used to purchase books for the school library and to put books into the hands of children who can’t afford them.
Scholastic will match the One for Books contributions with a donation of books to three non-profit organizations that help families in need: Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., the Kids In Need Foundation, and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Each year, Scholastic donates up to one million books through the program.
