As part of the Summer Concert series hosted by the Coal Country Chamber of Commerce, The Heartland Band will perform at the Benld City Park tonight, Tuesday, July 23 from 7 until 8:30pm. Heartland Band is an area based band that specializes in classic country music for dancing and listening, but also mixes in a variety of other music.
Audiences of all ages will know and recall the music they do. The band has been together several years and has played many homecomings, festivals, and dance halls.
Rich Thacker is leader of the band and plays lead guitar and does lead vocals. Rich is from Litchfield. Mary Davis is one of the band’s soloists and her husband Mel plays bass guitar. They are also from Litchfield. Chip Berger is the band’s drummer and is from Vandalia.
The free concert series sponsored by the CCCC began the first Tuesday night in June and will continue through July 30th. The concession stand opens at 6pm and sells hot dogs, big smokies, Italian beef sandwiches, and strawberry shortcake sundaes along with water and soda. The concerts are held rain or shine because the covered pavilion on the South side of the park provides plenty of cover. Grab your lawn chair and your friends and family and come out and enjoy the free concert!
Remaining concerts in this series are:
July 23 • Heatland Country, Classic Country
July 30 • Steve Davis, Memories of Elvis
