Jean Strausbaugh, administrator at Heritage Health in Gillespie, oversees 95 employees as they work together as a team with the residents’ quality of life as their focus. “We feel blessed to have the honor of caring for our community,” Jean explained. “We look forward to 2013 with energy and opportunity to serve.” Heritage Health Gillespie is always striving to continuously improve their service and are grateful of what they each receive in giving.

Jean who is 55 years old, graduated from Litchfield High School in 1975. She went on to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and later graduated in 1979. Currently, she is a licensed social worker and nursing home administrator. She made the choice to work for Heritage Health in 2005. Before becoming an administrator at Heritage Health, she worked as a Discharge Planner at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield and also Hillsboro and Carlinville Hospitals as well.

Jean has been married for 31 years to Dan who is a retired operating engineer for CIPS/Ameren Coffeen. The pair has two sons, Neal and Scott, and one grandson. Nial in 30 years old and resides in Indianapolis while Scott is 26 and is residing in California. Camden, their grandson, is 2 years old.

Heritage Health in Gillespie is a proud partner in the health and wellbeing of the community’s senior population. Their services range from short-term rehabilitative therapy to skilled nursing care, including car for those needing IV therapy, hospice, and respite care. Our team is honored to provide more healthcare services; we offer independence, dignity, and a home residents can call their own.

Earlier this year, Heritage Health in Gillespie received a deficiency-free survey from the Illinois Department of Public Health. The survey is a requirement for the facility’s annual certification and licensure, and Heritage Health was found to be 100% in compliance with state regulations for all aspects of nursing care.

In addition, Heritage Health Gillespie has been named by US News and World Reports as one of the Top 50 Nursing Homes in Illinois. “We have a 5 Star rating from the centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services,” Jean added. CMS gives nursing homes an overall rating and also rates them on health inspections, nursing home staffing, and quality measures.

Heritage Health Gillespie also is proud to provide a Restore Therapy Services in addition to the nursing service. The Restore Therapy Program is made up of three core programs: Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy. The staff also treats medical diagnoses and conditions.

Rummage sale to support Meals on Wheels set for March 20, 21, and 22

Bunker Hill – Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill is excited to announce a rummage sale taking place on Thursday, March 20, Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22. The sale will be held at the church located at 609 East Warren Street in Bunker Hill. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Illinois Valley Meals on Wheels in Macoupin County, a vital program that prepares and delivers over 1,500 meals daily to those in need across three counties.

Donations for the rummage sale are warmly welcomed and can be dropped off at the church’s north entrance starting Monday, March 17. Items of all kinds are appreciated, and your contributions will directly support the dedicated efforts of volunteers who ensure that nutritious meals reach our community members.

The sale will run from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday and then 8 AM to 4 PM on Friday and Saturday, making it convenient for everyone to stop by and find great deals while supporting a crucial service in our area.
