LAWSUITS

Cavalry SPV I, LLC, as assignee of Capital One Bank, is suing Glenn E. Bruckert, Bunker Hill, for $23,010.49, plus court costs, that Bruckert allegedly owes on a defaulted Capital One credit card account.

Gary and Vickie Wyman, Greenfield, have filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Joshua and Lisa Howard, Royal Lakes, seeking $600 in alleged back rent, plus court costs and possession of residential premises located in the 100 block of East Sycamore Street in Royal Lakes.

Doug Kessinger and Sue Pirok, manager, have filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Henry Wilson, Gillespie, seeking $615 in alleged back rent, plus court costs and possession of a residential apartment located in the 100 block of Shelby Street in Gillespie.

SMALL CLAIMS

Midland Funding, LLC, is suing Nadine Ferrero, Benld, for $856.18, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Credit One Bank credit card account.

In separate suits, Carlinville Area Hospital is suing Andrew and Rhonda Marie Ross, Hettick, for $1,600, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical services; Carl Frederic Gaertner, Hettick, for $4,616.99, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical services; and Kari McKinney, Carlinville, for $2,643.42, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical services.

Discover Bank is suing Todd E. May, Mount Olive, for $2,527.52, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC, is suing Diana I. Gray, Girard, for $772.18, plus court costs and interest, allegedly owed on a defaulted Aspire Card credit account issued by CompuCredit Corp.

Capital One Bank is suing Michael S. Peper, Virden, for $4,917.54, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Blanchard Valley Health Systems, Findlay, Ohio, is suing Thomas Houser, Carlinville, for $731.06, plus court costs, allegedly owed for medical services.

Bank of America is suing Janet K. Scharfenberg, Carlinville, for $3,735.68, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Capital One Bank is suing Georgenna R. Mataya, Virden, for $2,430.22, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Portfolio Recovery is suing Jason E. Debardeleben, Staunton, for $760.37, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted US Bank credit card account.

Portfolio Recovery is suing Amy Nix, Carlinville, for $605.89, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted Walmart credit card account.

Discover Bank is suing Larry Griffin, Mount Olive, for $1,359.56, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Discover Bank is suing Bryon S. Vanausdall, Virden, for $3,342.06, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Discover Bank is suing Kayla D. Howerton, Brighton, for $1,766.70, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

Discover Bank is suing Merri Bogard, Staunton, for $1,381.58, plus court costs, allegedly owed on a defaulted credit card account.

FELONIES

Tracey R. Richardson, 38, Carlinville, is charged with possession of another person’s debit card in connection with a Nov. 18 incident during which she allegedly used a US Bank debit card belonging to another person to make a purchase totaling more than $150.

Aaron C. Edwards, 22, Carlinville, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse in connection with an incident occurring on or about Dec. 31 during which he allegedly committed acts of sexual penetration with a female between the ages of 13 and 17 at a time when Edwards was at least five years older than the victim.

Michael J. Fosnock, 30, Carlinville, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting a peace officer in connection with a Jan. 16 incident during which he allegedly possessed less than five grams of a substance containing methamphetamine and pulled away from the arresting officer when the officer attempted to handcuff him.

MISDEMEANORS

Noah A. Harstad, 19, Medora, is charged with battery in connection with a Jan. 7 incident during which he allegedly pushed a female to the ground.

Travis M. West, 18, is charged with criminal sexual abuse in connection with a Nov. 12 incident during which he allegedly committed an act of sexual penetration with a female between the ages of 13 and 17 at a time when West was less than five years older than the victim.

Kyle J. Boyle, 29, Springfield, is charged with resisting a peace officer in connection with a Jan. 12 incident during which he allegedly pulled away from a Girard police officer who was placing him under arrest.

Several area residents are charged with deceptive practice for allegedly writing checks to area businesses while knowing their bank would not honor the drafts. Those charged include: Timothy F. Parnell, 57, Carlinville, accused of writing a bad check for $68.93 on Oct. 7 to Boente Shell, Carlinville; Dennis R. Miller, 38, Carlinville, accused of writing a bad check for $71.89 on Sept. 16, to Boente Shell, Carlinville; Johnelle B. Acup, 43, Gillespie, accused of writing a bad check for $62 on Nov. 14 to the Animal Doctor, Staunton; Kayla J. Shaw, 27, Mount Olive, accused of writing a bad check for $60.53 on Oct. 7 to McKay Auto Parts; Chlorus D. Jarmar III, 37, Litchfield, accused of writing a bad check for $400 on Aug. 20 to Bellm Apartments; Tracey D. Richardson, 38, Carlinville, accused of writing a bad check for $50 on Nov. 5 to Boente Shell, Carlinville; and Yavonne S. Johson, 37, Carlinville, charged with five counts of deceptive practice for writing five bad checks totaling $220.52 between Oct. 13 and Oct. 18 to Boente Shell, Carlinville.

Dena King, 48, Staunton, is charged with obstructing identification.

Daniel J. Bramley, 21, Benld, is charged with aggravated assault in connection with a Jan. 15 incident during which he allegedly approached a female at Casey’s General Store, Benld, and called her a “whore,” causing the woman to reasonably fear she was about to be attacked.

TRAFFIC

Martha A. Lyon, 44, Brighton, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 9 incident on Brighton-Bunker Hill Road at Huette Road. Lyon also faces traffic charges for allegedly driving on a suspended driver’s license, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver and speeding 11 to 14 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.

Kevin D. Brittain, 38, Alton, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 13 incident on Brighton-Bunker Hill Road about a quarter-mile west of Fosterburg Road. Brittain also faces a traffic charge for alleged improper lane usage.

Matthew S. Konneker, 34, Mount Olive, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 6 incident on Route 66 at West First North Street in Mount Olive.

Justin A. Kirkwood, 25, Benld is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Jan. 14 incident in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 at mile marker 43.5.

Macoupin County Clerk, Recorder & Elections Office temporarily relocating due to courthouse renovations

The Macoupin County Clerk, Recorder, and Elections Office will temporarily relocate across the street to the Macoupin County Voting Center, located at 227 E. First South in Carlinville, beginning Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The move is necessary to accommodate HVAC system renovations in the Macoupin County Courthouse. The temporary relocation is expected to last until mid-January 2026.

During this time, all regular services — including vital records, recordings, elections, and general clerk functions — will continue to be available at the Voting Center. Office hours and contact information will remain the same.

However, due to limited space during the renovation, public searching and certain in-person services may be restricted. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the many online services offered through the Clerk’s website, including:

  • Searching and ordering vital records
  • Accessing property and land records
  • Viewing election information and forms
  • Checking registration and voter status

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we make these necessary improvements to the Courthouse,” said Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan. “Our goal is to continue serving the public efficiently and safely, whether in person or online.”
