LAWSUITS

Kinney Contractors Inc. is suing Ameren Illinois Company for $18,787.00, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed for additional costs and expenses incurred relating to their work being suspended due to a May 2016 explosion in Carlinville when a contractor damaged a gas line the plaintiff claims was not properly marked by Ameren.

The Secretary of Veterans Affairs have filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against unknown occupants residing in a residence located in the 1100 block of South Washington Street, Bunker Hill after the expiration of a 90-day notice to vacate following a foreclosure sale.

SMALL CLAIMS

DNF Associates LLC is suing Aaron Hurley, Mount Olive, for $1,842.61, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed for failure to pay jewelry purchased on a credit card.

Consumer Collection Management Inc. is suing Larry Hopper, Staunton, for $1,434.32, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed for medical services provided by Macoupin Family Practice Centers and Washington University.

Consumer Collection Management Inc. is suing Toni Trumpy, Gillespie, for $3,299.62, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed for medical services provided by Carlinville Area Hospital, St. John’s Hospital and St. Francis Hospital.

Personal Finance Company is suing Stacy Cato, Brighton, for $2,597.48, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed on a defaulted loan.

Absolute Resolutions Investments LLC is suing Edward Knes, Mount Olive, for $2,656.71, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed on a defaulted consumer loan agreement.

Personal Finance Company LLC is suing Dana Mead, Granite City, for $917.12, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed on a defaulted loan agreement.

Personal Finance Company LLC is suing David Ratcliffe, Bunker Hill, for $1,865.57, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed on a defaulted loan agreement.

Synchrony Bank is suing Alisha Johnson, Staunton, for $3,889.20, plus court costs, the plaintiff claims is owed on a defaulted Care Credit credit account.

Eugene Arnold and Christin Jones, Royal Lakes, are suing Michelle Bonds, Jennings, MO, for $2,500 the plaintiff claims is owed for the selling of a 2000 Mustang with remaining balance of $500, one day of work, and distress to his mother.

John and Jeanette Earley, Girard, is suing Tasha Tomerelli, Divernon, for $3,500, plus court costs, the plaintiffs claims is owed for unpaid rent at a residence located in the 600 block of West Center Street, Girard.

FELONIES

Leeann Bennington, 22, Bunker Hill, is charged with residential burglary and theft in connection with an August 31 incident in Bunker Hill when she entered an apartment located in the 100 block of South Meissner, Bunker Hill and stole a wedding ring.

Carrie O’Brien, 45, Gillespie, is charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine and criminal trespassing in connection with a September 6 incident in Gillespie.

Willie Lewis, 29, Springfield, is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in connection with a September 7 incident.

MISDEMEANORS

Timothy Louvier, 33, Carlinville, is charged with domestic battery and unlawful interference with the reporting of domestic violence in connection with a September 3 incident when he grabbed his girlfriend by the hair and threw her to the ground and then prevented her from calling the police by taking her phone and refusing to return it to her.

Harold Kelley, 41, Gillespie, is charged with criminal trespass to real property in connection with a September 6 incident in Gillespie when he entered a building located in the 500 block of Park Street, Gillespie knowing entry was forbidden.

Austin Johnson, 21, Girard, is charged with disorderly conduct in connection with a September 9 incident in Girard when he used profane and fighting language.

Taylor Montgomery, 19, Springfield, is charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor in connection with a September 9 incident in Girard.

Nolan Harrison, 18, Thayer, is charged with illegal consumption of alcohol in connection with a September 6 incident.

TRAFFIC

Dillon Wiser, 23, Carlinville, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence, driving 1-10 mph above the speed limit, improper lane usage, and illegal transportation of alcohol by the driver in connection with a September 2 incident in Carlinville around 1:11 a.m.

Patricia David, 68, Benld, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol by the driver, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lane usage, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident in Gillespie in connection with a September 8 incident in Carlinville around 9:25 p.m.

Progressive Club to celebrate 90th anniversary

The Wilsonville Progressive Club will celebrate and host a 90 year Anniversary Party on Saturday, May 11. The party will include a catered dinner, a live band, and fireworks.

Doors will open at 2 pm with a catered dinner being served at 4 pm.  The Shane Kessinger Experience (live band) will play at 5 pm, and a grand fireworks display will be held at dusk.

The Progressive Club was originally established in 1934 by the Progressive Miners and was located on the northwest side of Wilsonville’s main street. The Club moved to their new building in January of 1949 and today this is still the current location at 212 Wilson Street in Wilsonville.

Wilsonville was founded in 1917 when Superior Coal Co. Mine No. 4 was sunk and this was the most modern mine in the Superior field. At that time, the little settlement which grew up around the mine was called Wilson. One day a worker paused and asked, “What are we going to name this town?” President Wilson was in office, thus the town was then and there named Wilson until 1919 when it was incorporated and the name expanded to Wilsonville.

The Wilsonville Progressive Club is operated and maintained by an elected panel of trustees and loyal members.  The Club is open to the public and membership is always welcome.  The large outdoor covered pavilion and manicured grassy side lot offer an attractive and convenient venue for any event along with inside facilities. 

If you are interested in renting for any kind of event, call 217-835-3122 during open hours which are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 4 pm to close, and Sunday doors open at 2 pm.  Every Sunday afternoon at 4 pm is the Queen of Hearts drawing and the Club is on Facebook as well.

HSHS St. Francis Hospital offers volunteer opportunities for feens

LITCHFIELD, Ill. — HSHS St. Francis Hospital is offering service opportunities to area teens this summer through the 2024 Junior Volunteer Program. Applications are being accepted now through May 1.

Applicants must be high school students maintaining at least a “C” average, be a minimum of 14 years of age by June 1 and be willing to volunteer at least two hours per week during the summer program. Junior volunteers will perform a variety of duties in various hospital departments. 

Registration materials are available on the hospital’s website volunteer page at https://www.hshs.org/st-francis/community/volunteer.

All participants in the program will be required to present proof of immunizations for MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella), and Varicella (chicken pox). An additional requirement includes attendance at a hospital orientation.

A limited number of positions will be available. For more information, contact HSHS St. Francis Hospital at 217-324-8200.
