LAWSUITS
Steven Katich has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against LeAnn Stafford and Stephen Fields, Wilsonville, seeking $360 in alleged overdue rent, plus court costs and possession of residential preimises located in the 300 block of Marcia Street in Wilsonville.
Michael J. and Dana L. LaRosa, Staunton, are suing Brian E. and Belinda Evans, Rock Springs, Wyoming, for more than $18,000 in damages resulting from an alleged breach of contract. According to the suit, the defendants entered into a contract in June 2008 to rent a residence in the 200 block of Henrietta Street in Staunton from the plaintiffs, agreeing to pay monthly rent and to maintain the premises in good condition. The suit alleges the defendants later abandoned the property and that the plaintiffs terminated the lease for violations of the lease terms. The plaintiffs alleged the defendants not only failed to maintain the property, but left behind damages costing the plaintiffs $17,608 to repair. The suit seeks a judgment in the amount of the repairs, plus $1,175 in alleged back rent, interest on the amounts allegedly owed and court costs.
Tim Loveless, Gillespie, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Eriel R. Adams, Gillespie, seeking $860 in alleged back rent, plus court costs and possession of residential premises located in the 300 block of Park Avenue in Gillespie.
Central Illinois Realty has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Brian Boone, Virden, seeking $732.50 in alleged back rent, plus $522 in attorney fees and court costs, and possession of premises located in the Whispering Pines Mobile Home Court in Virden.
MRT Investments, LLC, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Michelle Weatherford, Carlinville, seeking $1,850 in alleged overdue rent, plus court costs and possession of residential premises located in the 1000 block of Crittendon Street in Carlinville.
Tim Loveless, Gillespie, has filed a forcible entry and detainer complaint against Lester Hall, Gillespie, seeking $1,465.57 in alleged overdue rent, plus court costs and possession of residential premises located in the 2000 block of Staunton Road, Gillespie.
SMALL CLAIMS
Capital One Bank is suing Lawrence E. Giffin, Mount Olive, for $7,838.84, plus court costs that Giffin allegedly owes on a defaulted credit card account.
Robert W. Dodd, Virden, is suing Billy Austin, Modesto, for $1,997.28, plus court costs, that Austin allegedly owes for legal services provided in connection with a Morgan County child support case.
Sterling Jewelers, doing business as Kay’s Jewlers, is suing Johnny E. Cox, Gillespie, for $4,707.87, plus court costs allegedly owed on a defaulted credit agreement.

Jesse L. Briles, 24, Carlinville, is charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with a May 9 incident during which he allegedly was in possession of a substance containing amphetamine.
MISDEMEANORS
Ryan Anderson, 44, Gillespie, is charged with battery resulting in bodily harm in connection with a May 3 incident.
Cohl M. Chartrand, 19, Butler, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of 2.5-10 grams of a substance containing cannabis in connection with a March 18 incident.
Christopher R. Oatsvall, Jr., 24, Butler, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a May 20 incident.
Jason A. Clouse, 40, Chatham, is charged with retail theft of merchandise valued at less than $300 in connection with a March 6 incident.
Christopher J. Orear, 19, Gillespie, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with a Dec. 18, 2015, incident.
Breann M. Morrell, 35, Gillespie, is charged with possession of 2.5-10 grams of a substance containing cannabis in connection with a Dec. 18, 2015, incident.
Jay M. Parker, 34, Carlinville, is charged with battery resulting in bodily harm in connection with a May 8 incident in Carlinville.
Austin M. Freand, 19, Carlinville, is charged with battery resulting in bodily harm in connection with an April 24 incident in Carlinville.
Michael A. Lewis, 39, Carlinville, is charged with two counts of violating an order of protection in connection with a May 10 incident in Carlinville.
Thad D. Roberts, 20, Carlinville, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with a May 29 incident on Illinois Route 108 at Comer Road. Roberts also faces a traffic charge for alleged illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger.
Kendall W. Slightom, 20, Carlinville, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with a May 29 incident on Illinois Route 108 at Comer Road. Slightom also faces a traffic charge for alleged illegal transportation of alcohol by a passenger.
Shane Boston, 35, Eagarville, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a May 28 incident during which he allegedly struck his wife several times with his forearms.
Zachary L. Lake, 18, Virden, is charged with battery in connection with a May 30 incident in Virden during which he allegedly struck Spencer A. Wolff, 18, in the head with his fist.

Justin C. Grider, 33, Carlinville, is charged with criminal trespass to property in connection with a May 30 incident during which he allegedly entered onto the property of Hardee’s on North Broad Street, Carlinville, after having been notified by the Carlinville Police Department that he was banned from the property.
Shelbie Donelle Tandy, 20, Carlinville, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with a May 29 incident on Illinois Route 108 at Comer Road.
Ashley L. Starr, 20, Carlinville, is charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with a May 29 incident on Illinois Route 108 at Comer Road.
Zachary R. Rogers, 20, Carlinville, is charged with unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21 in connection with a May 29 incident on Illinois Route 108 at Comer Road.
Michael W. Griffith, 35, Wilsonville, is charged with domestic battery in connection with a June 2 incident during which he allegedly pushed a female family member.
April A. Eichen, 37, Carlinville, is charged with deceptive practice for allegedly writing a check on July 18, 2015, while knowing her bank would not honor the draft.
Chad A. Denninger, 40, Collinsivlle, is charged with deceptive practice for allegedly writing a check on March 20 while knowing his bank would not honor the draft.
Michael A. Lewis, 39, Carlinville, is charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property in connection with a June 2 incident in Carlinville during which he allegedly pushed his wife in her chest and caused less than $300 in damage to an apartment door belonging to LeVora Apartments in the 1200 block of South Broad Street, Carlinville.
TRAFFIC
Marion B. Warlick, 57, Alton, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 29 incident at 1:12 a.m. on Illinois Route 16 at Harping Avenue in East Gillespie. Additionally, Warlick faces traffic charges for alleged operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding 11 to 14 miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit.
Wayne S. Seymour, 53, Girard, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 30 incident. Seymour also faces a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a peace office, a Class A misdemeanor, and traffic charges for allegedly driving on a revoked driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding 15 to 20 miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit and improper lane usage.
Pierre L. Tandy, 50, Carlinville, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 28 incident at 9:53 p.m. in the 600 block of Yard Street in Carlinville. Tandy also faces traffic charges for allegedly failing to reduce the speed of his vehicle to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.
Joseph D. Scoggins, 25, Carlinville, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 28 incident at 2 a.m. on West Main Street at Plum Street in Carlinville. In addition, Scoggins faces faces traffic charges for allegedly driving on a suspended driver’s license and speeding 11 to 14 miles over the posted speed limit.
Christopher D. Ragsdale, 33, Dorsey, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 31 incident at 1:26 a.m. on West Alton Street in Bunker Hill. Additionall, Ragsdale faces traffic charges for alleged operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, making an improper turn signal and improper lane usage.
Joseph H. Spurgeon, 32, Cottage Hills, is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a May 27 incident on Brighton-Bunker Hill Road in Brighton. He also faces traffic charges for alleged operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
Lori A. Inniger, 47, Wilsonville, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a June 2 incident at 3:19 a.m. on Illinois Route 138 three-tenths of a mile east of Illinois Route 159, Bunker Hill. In addition, Inniger faces traffic charges for alleged operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding 15 to 20 miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit.
David A. James, Jr., 28, Piasa, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a June 4 incident at 3:15 a.m. on West City Limits Road, Brighton. He also faces traffic charges for allegedly disregarding a stop sign and alleged improper lane usage.

Macoupin County Clerk, Recorder & Elections Office temporarily relocating due to courthouse renovations

The Macoupin County Clerk, Recorder, and Elections Office will temporarily relocate across the street to the Macoupin County Voting Center, located at 227 E. First South in Carlinville, beginning Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
The move is necessary to accommodate HVAC system renovations in the Macoupin County Courthouse. The temporary relocation is expected to last until mid-January 2026.
During this time, all regular services — including vital records, recordings, elections, and general clerk functions — will continue to be available at the Voting Center. Office hours and contact information will remain the same.
However, due to limited space during the renovation, public searching and certain in-person services may be restricted. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the many online services offered through the Clerk’s website, including:
- Searching and ordering vital records
- Accessing property and land records
- Viewing election information and forms
- Checking registration and voter status
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we make these necessary improvements to the Courthouse,” said Macoupin County Clerk Pete Duncan. “Our goal is to continue serving the public efficiently and safely, whether in person or online.”
