The Gillespie Police Department has arrested and charged a suspect in connection with the death of a 3-year-old toddler who was abused in a Gillespie home earlier this year.
William Bolin, 24, of Livingston was booked into the Macoupin County Jail on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond set by the Honorable Judge Joshua Meyer. Bolin was charged by the Macoupin County State’s Attorney’s Office with aggravated battery to a child (a class X felony) and involuntary manslaughter (a class 2 felony). Bolin is a friend of the child’s mother, according to Gillespie Police Chief Jared DePoppe.
Gillespie Police Department immediately treated the incident as a possible child abuse case after emergency medical personnel responded to the residence in the 500 block of Western Avenue of Gillespie in the early afternoon hours of January 3, 2015. The caller explained the reason was for an injured child.
