Angel Cordero Ferrel , 80, of Staunton, died at Belleville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 6:38 pm. He was born May 31, 1944, in Kendleton, TX, to Lauro Ferrel and Eva Cordero Ferrel.
He graduated from San Jacinto High School. Angel was a US Army veteran and welder with Cameron Iron Workers and retired from the United States Postal Service after having worked at the St. Louis office. Family was important to him. He always visited everyone. He loved taking his grandchildren and spoiling them. He loved going to see new movies and trying new restaurants that would open up in the local areas. He enjoyed being outside doing the simple pleasures in life like mowing grass and fishing. He also enjoyed going to church and out for coffee.
He is survived by his former wife, Jean; children, Gregory (companion, Caren Sterling) Ferrel of Bethalto, Rebecca Ferrel of Staunton; grandchildren, Kara (spouse, Troy Gasser) Ferrel, Joshua (spouse, Sarah) Finnegan, Daniel Ferrel, Emily (spouse, Tanner Bragg) Ferrel, Julia Ferrel; great-grandchildren, Isabel Gasser, Olivia Evelyn Gasser, Aria Finnegan; siblings, Laura Craft, Marcus Ferrel, Isabell Galvan, Hector Ferrel, Richard Ferrel; and former daughter-in-law, Michele Ferrel of Hampton, VA.
Angel was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Elena Ferrel.
Friends may call on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services are Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 12:00 pm at St. Michael’s Church, Staunton.
