Debra Lynne Nangle, 72, of Litchfield, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Springfield. She was born on January 25, 1953, a daughter of Richard Edward and Delores “Dodie” (Koonce) Butts.
She graduated from Lincoln Land Community College. She married Joe Petty Jr. in 1971, and they later divorced. She married Michael Patrick Nangle in 1983, and they enjoyed nearly 38 years of marriage until his passing in 2021. Debra was a registered nurse and employed through the years with Litchfield Healthcare, HSHS St. Francis Hospital, and Aperion Care until retirement.
Her interests included genealogy, fishing, and especially enjoyed traveling to Arizona and California to visit family. Debra was an excellent cook, and well-known for her chicken and noodles. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren.
Debra is survived by son, Shane P. Nangle of Litchfield; daughters, Kimberly Black of Litchfield, Kristi (spouse Jodi) Petty of Collinsville, and Amanda (Bobby Quigley) Nangle of Springfield; stepdaughter, Lora (David) Easley of Hillsboro; half-sister, Terri (Lawrence) Perez-Kinney of Pomona, CA; grandchildren, Summer Hill of Orange County, CA, Nicole Baker, Jeremy (Saydi) Black, and Jasmine Nangle, all of Litchfield, Michael Lee Nangle and Aiden Quigley, both of Springfield; and three great-grandchildren.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her stepdaughter, Capt. Amy Brown, USAF; and her sister, Vicki L. Butts-Enright.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Lynne Taylor, minister of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, will officiate. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of service. Burial will be at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Red Cross Blood Bank or Litchfield Food Pantry. Plummer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
