Ruie Wooten, 84 of Litchfield, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2024, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon. He was born on February 18, 1940, in Ayden, KY, a son of William and Ella (Stedham) Wooten.
Mr. Wooten graduated high school in Asten, IN. He and the former Juanita Miller were married August 5, 1960, in Chicago. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2022, shortly before their 62nd anniversary. Mr. Wooten was employed with Echlin Manufacturing for more than 30 years. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Barnett. Additionally, he was an avid fisherman, enjoyed playing golf and bowling, tinkering with antique tractors, and putting in a nice garden.
Mr. Wooten is survived by three daughters, Sandra (James) Self and Linda (Jeff) Eddings, both of Raymond, and Angela (Selone) Williams of Edwardsville; 12 grandchildren, Heather Apps, Jennifer (Justin) Archer, Leslie (Dominic) Berardinelli, Brock (Michelle) Eddings, Brett (Marlie) Eddings, Brittany Smith, Chase Williams, Michael Williams, Slone Williams, Casey (Jesse) Morgan, Abby (Cameron) Mitchell, and Allyson (Jason) Harlacher; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special friend and companion, Nancy Jones of Litchfield.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Wooten was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Wooten, Matt Wooten, Herbert Wooten and Willie Wooten, Jr., and his sisters, Shelby Terry, Virgie Colwell, Sally Johnson, Ollie Campbell, and Rosemary Spicer.
Funeral services for Mr. Wooten will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Roy Eller of New Hope Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
The family suggests memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements
