Suzanne “Suzi” Humphreys, 70 of Carlinville, passed on December 20, 2025, at St. John’s hospital in Springfield surrounded by family. She was born on November 17, 1955, to Charles Robert and Claribelle Miller in Carlinville.
She had four sisters, Mary Katherine (Art) Solberg, Robin Shuda, Gail (John) Stump, and Becky Miller. She graduated from Blackburn College in 1977 with a degree in art and education. She taught P.E. and art for many years before marrying. She married David Humphreys on June 19, 1982 (43 years).
David and Suzi had four children. Suzi continued substitute teaching, tutoring for many years, and advocating for special needs kids. Eventually working has a head start teacher before retiring.
Suzi was an avid reader and talented artist. She had a devout faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Also a devoted, loving, and passionate mother, grandmother, and most importantly wife.
She was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Gail.
She is survived by husband, David Humphreys; daughters, Katie (Daniel) Boehme, Justine (Steven) Humphreys, and Deirdre (Tobin) Schindler; son, Davis Humphreys; and grandson Judah Scott. She also leaves behind longtime mentee, friend, and ‘adopted’ daughter, Barbara (Michael) Troutt, as well as sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be interred at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville at a later date. A celebration of life will be held at Carlinville United Methodist Church in Carlinville on January 3, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
