Yvonne Marie Gwinn, 80 of Carlinville, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, January 1, 2025, at her residence in Carlinville. Yvonne was born on November 30, 1944, in Warren, OH, a daughter of Truman Seago and Jessie Vancourt Seago Wiegle.
She married Iven Gwinn October 13, 1966, at the First Assembly Church in Carlinville. Yvonne was a lifelong nurse. Her first job was at a nursing home when she was only 14. She fell in love with helping and taking care of people, especially the elderly. She worked at the Sacred Heart Convent of the Dominican Sisters of Springfield. The sisters she cared for often called her a Saint.
Yvonne was beloved wherever she worked. She spent many years at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield until an unfortunate injury to her shoulders left her unable to do the job she loved. Her retirement left her with lots of time to explore some hobbies, most of which were her husbands, but she found joy in them all the same.
She enjoyed the motorcycle trips they took to the East and West coasts. Yvonne, more than anything else, loved her family and up until her final days, she was joking and laughing with them. She enjoyed crocheting, Betty Boop, and Elvis impersonators.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Iven LeRoy Gwinn of Carlinville; son, Iven L. (Stacey) Gwinn Jr. of Virden; daughter, Dawn Michelle Gwinn of Atwater; two granddaughters, Jillian Neel Smith and Autumn Gwinn; three great grandchildren; brother, Richard Seago of Rockford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Carl L. Seago Sr.; baby brother, Frankie Seago and Robert Proper; and sisters, Evelyn Fouts, and Bernice.
