The Partnership for Educational Excellence has once again invested its supporters’ funds in the school children of Community Unit School District 7.
In a first-ever three-year commitment, The Partnership has presented the district with a check for $30,000 – and the promise of two more identical gifts during the next two academic years – to be used for updating student computers.
“The continued support from the Partnership for Educational Excellence and their donors never ceases to amaze me,” says Shane Owsley, CUSD7 superintendent. “They continue to provide much-needed resources to the students and staff of Gillespie CUSD #7. We are extremely blessed to have such a dedicated and hard-working organization assisting with our student’s education.”
“These awards are made possible entirely by the generosity of donors, primarily friends and neighbors, alumni and local businesses,” says John Fassero, Jr., president of The Partnership. In particular, the Schmidt and Barton families, part of the philanthropist W.E. Schmidt’s family, has been especially generous every year of The Partnership’s 30-year existence.
“The Schmidt families have always emphasized their preference for projects that put resources directly into the hands of local school children,” says Fassero. This new initiative, maintaining that goal, follows The Partnership’s earlier classroom mini-grant program and subsequent block grants that gave larger amounts to each of the three CUSD7 schools in turn.
Since The Partnership’s founding in 1992, this IRS-chartered 501(c)(3), not-for-profit education foundation has awarded a total of $680,000 to the schools of CUSD7.
All funds are deposited directly with the schools and must be used only for the designated purpose within the relevant academic year. For more information or to donate: www.thepartnership7.org or write to The Partnership, P.O. Box 125, Gillespie IL 62033.
