The Miners football team suffered their third loss of the season Saturday in a rescheduled matchup in Southwestern. Gillespie is now 1-3 on the season with their only win over Litchfield. The team lost battles to Vandalia, Pana and now Piasa Southwestern after four weeks of the season.
Southwestern took an 8-0 lead with six minutes left in first quarter and continued scoring throughout the game building a 22-0 lead. Gillespie found the endzone with about 15 seconds remaining in the game and converted the 2-point conversion to get on the scoreboard, taking an 8-22 loss.
