Dustin Calcari, 24, Gillespie was charged with reckless driving and obstructing a peace officer.

 MONDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2011

Officers were called to the 300 block of E. Elm for a fight in progress.  When the officers arrived they found a group of people having a party.  There was no fight but they were advised to quiet down, as ones leaving were the ones making a lot of noise.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2011

Officer was called to the 400 block of S. Macoupin for a gas drive off. The person that left the scene was contacted and believed she did pay for the gas.  Later in the day, the business will check their tapes.

Lucas A. Fenton, 22, Litchfield was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after being involved in an accident on Rt. 4 and South St.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2011

Daniel W. Hammond , 40, Gillespie was cited for driving while license suspended.

Lisa A. Forsythe, 48, Gillespie was cited for failure to properly secured child in a child restraint.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2011

Officer assisted a female in a child custody issue and accompanied her to the 900 block of S. Macoupin to see her child.

Officer was called to a residence in the 500 block of W. Baker where a female that lived next door walked into the residence after being told at another incident not to do so.  Tasha F. Dannis, 31, Gillespie was arrested for criminal trespass to a residence and transported to Macoupin County jail.

William D. Rife, 30, Gillespie was cited for driving while license suspended.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2011

Officers stopped a vehicle, where the driver failed to use his turn signal.  David A. Odorizzi, 17, Benld was cited for GDL driving after permitted time and having no insurance.  His passengers, Trevor W. Cartwright, 19, Gillespie was cited for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and Anthony S. Zumwalt, 17, Gillespie was cited for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Alex O. Perez, 22, Gillespie was arrested for failure to signal when required, driving under the influence of alcohol, no insurance and no valid drivers license. He was transported to Macoupin County jail.

Matthew F. Rauzi, 24, Gillespie was cited for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to give information after striking unattended vehicles, failure to report an accident to police, and having no insurance after striking two parked vehicles early Friday morning.

Officer took a call from a mother who reported her 17 year old son as a runaway and was on an Amtrak train going to Michigan.  The officer made several phone calls and then contacted Chicago Police and Amtrak Police who took the youth off the train and held him until his father could arrive in Chicago to pick him up.

Officer took a report from a male who lives in Highland but left his vehicle parked at a friend’s residence in the 300 block of W. Walnut.  While the vehicle was parked there, his car battery was stolen.

Officers stopped a vehicle that had a blue neon light above the rear registration plate. The driver, who was 16 years old, was cited for GDL more than one passenger under 20 years of age. One of his passengers, Dustin J. Graves, 19, Staunton was cited for illegal possession of alcohol.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2011

Devin M. Clark, 21, Gillespie was arrested for illegal operation of sound amplification system audible at 75 feet and driving under the influence of alcohol.  He posted bond and was released.

Officer took a call from a resident in the 200 block of E. Maple that had been receiving prank phone calls from a young caller.  When the resident asked the juvenile where her parents were at, she stated “they were dead”. The phone number given was called by the officer but no one would answer the phone.

Police search for suspects after robbery at Besserman Superbowl

Police in Gillespie are searching for at least two people involved in an early morning break-in and robbery that happened early Wednesday at Besserman Superbowl.

The bowling alley said on their Facebook page the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23. The suspects compromised the ATM and a gaming machine. The business’s security measures and a quick response from the Gillespie Police Department limited the suspects time inside the establishment to under 10 minutes but substantial damage was sustained.

Temporary repairs were made quickly and normal business hours were not interrupted for Besserman Superbowl but no arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the incident or the individuals involved are urged to contact the Gillespie Police Department at 217-839-2922.

“We appreciate the outpouring of support from our patrons, friends, and family in response to the break-in yesterday morning,” Besserman Superbowl posted on their Facebook page. “We value your loyalty and anticipate serving you soon at our renowned bowling alley and friendly community hub.”
