St. Francis Auxiliary sponsors drive-thru dinner on Sept. 11

LITCHFIELD— The HSHS St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor the fifth of six drive-thru dinners on Monday, Sept. 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to support the Auxiliary’s scholarship fund.

Dinners must be ordered by September 4. Orders can be placed online at nelsonscatering.com/hshs-st-francis-hospital, in the hospital gift shop, or by contacting Jeanne Banovic at 217-273-6716 or Nancy Hyam at 217-254-4442.

The September 11 drive-thru dinner pickup will take place in front of the main hospital entrance.

The meal will feature a grilled chicken breast, loaded mashed potatoes, southern style green beans, and a roll, all prepared by Nelson’s Catering, with a homemade dessert provided by Auxiliary bakers. Cost per meal is $14.

The Auxiliary scholarship fund provides annual awards to students who reside principally in Montgomery or Macoupin counties, have completed one year of college and are pursuing degrees or diplomas in health-related occupations.

There is one remaining drive-thru dinner dates on Monday, Oct. 9.

Missions group to host trivia fundraiser on March 30

Come and join us for an exciting afternoon of trivia as we support our local 2:18 Missions! Mark your calendars for Sunday, March 30 from 2 to 5 PM for an event that promises fun, camaraderie, and a chance to make a difference in our community. The event will be held at DeStefane Community Center in Benld, 201 East Central Avenue.

Teams of up to 10 people can participate for just $100 per table. Whether you want to reserve your table in advance or simply show up on the day of the event to pay at the door, we welcome all trivia enthusiasts to join in the competition!

Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks to enjoy during the game—just please remember, no alcohol is allowed. For your convenience, we will have bottles of water available for purchase.

The stakes are high, and the competition is fierce! The first-place team will take home a prize of $150. Plus, bring some dollar bills to participate in “Heads and Tails” games during breaks and to buy mulligans for your team.

Gillespie Library to host Nick Davio on Feb. 22

The public is invited to Gillespie Public Library for a family friendly morning on Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. with “Music/Act 2 with Mr. Nick”.

Nick Davio performed previously at Gillespie Library and at the Christmas Sparkle at the Gillespie Coal Museum.

He has a lively interaction with children of all ages. So, come and enjoy a morning of music and fun.

Gillespie to host blood drive on Feb. 17

Gillespie Community will host a Community Blood Drive with ImpactLife, the provider of blood components for local hospitals. The blood drive will be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, February 17 at 900 Broadway, inside Gillespie Methodist Church Gym.

To donate, please contact Brenda Lowe at (217) 710-1336 or visit www.bloodcenter.org and use code 60020 to locate the drive. You may also call ImpactLife to schedule at 800-747-5401. Appointments are requested.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission form available through www.bloodcenter.org) and weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate.  For questions about eligibility, please call ImpactLife at (800) 747 5401. Donors who last gave blood on or before 12/23/24 are eligible to give at this drive.
