For the seventh year in a row, hundreds of participants and dozens of sponsors and volunteers turned out to support the Team Tammy walk/run for cancer awareness held on October 22. The event, which includes a silent auction and bake sale, raised $6,200 to help local families battling cancer.
The day to honored lives lost, celebrate survivors, promote cancer awareness and help bring assistance and support to families battling the disease.
Although the organization was originally founded in 2005 to benefit Tammy Rosentreter, who was diagnosed with cancer, it was Tammy’s wishes and the Team’s efforts that has led to the organization’s continued support of other local individuals battling the disease. To date, the organization has raised $38,000 to benefit 55 local cancer patients.
The event was kicked off with a prayer and balloon release. The theme color this year was lavender, which represents all types of cancer. Water, fruit and awareness ribbon bagels were provided to participants.
