Participating Dairy Queen locations are celebrating the company’s 75 year anniversary by giving away ice cream cones today, March 16, on the 75th day of the calendar year. Gillespie’s Dairy Queen is participating in the initiative and expects large crowds throughout the day.
With the thermometer expected to reach 76°F today, it’s the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of spring. The event limits one small vanilla soft-serve ice cream cone per customer with Dairy Queen’s signature curl on top.
Dairy Queen is also requesting donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to help save and improve the lives of kids treated at 170 children’s hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. DQ has raised more than $100 million for CMNH in the last 30 years.
Barry Westrum, executive vice president of marketing for Dairy Queen, said the celebration will continue all year long. “We’re extending the celebration beyond Free Cone Day because it’s about more than just one day,” The Huffington Post reports Westrum said in a press release.
Gillespie’s Dairy Queen opened at 10 a.m. this morning and closes at 10 p.m. tonight.
