
A winter storm is expected to hit the Benld Gillespie area on January 24 and January 25 and is forecasted to bring heavy snow.
The National Weather Service in St. Louis, MO issued a winter storm warning for Macoupin County and a number of surrounding Illinois and Missouri counties that will take effect from 6 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 24 and lasting through 6 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
The region can expect anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of snow. Meteorologists suggest the precipitation will start with a mix of rain and snow Tuesday night and will change over to all snow by midnight.
The snow will start tapering off by mid-morning on Wednesday but we could see light snow in the afternoon until the weather moves out of the area by Wednesday evening.
No ice is expected and the snow will be a heavy, wet snowfall, experts forecast.
