Allen L. Greeling, Sr., 91 of Bunker Hill, died at his residence on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 9:56 am. He was born on February 5, 1934, in Jersey County to Charles Michael Greeling and Anne Mary (Sellmeier) Greeling. He married Alice C. Mullink on July 3, 1954, in Bunker Hill.
Allen was a retired manager for FS Grain Elevator in Bunker Hill and owner of Double A Kennel in Bunker Hill. He enjoyed sports and loved that his grandchildren enjoyed the same love of sports and especially the St. Louis Cardinals. Stan Musial was his favorite baseball player.
Allen was a member of National Shoot To Retrieve Association (NSTRA) in Illinois and Missouri. He served as region president of NSTRA for 2 terms and region director from 2001-2005. Allen enjoyed not only training dogs but to usually have 5 or 6 dogs in the trials. When Allen was at the trials, his wife Alice was usually by his side and helping at the trials. It was not uncommon to see Allen teach others about the NSTRA and educating them on the sport.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Greeling of Bunker Hill; daughter, Beverly D. (Robert) Kline of Bunker Hill; six grandchildren, Brandy Scheller, Amber Greeling, Timothy (Jessica) Kline, Kevin Kline, Joseph (Mary) Kline, and Andy Kline; 19 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and five sister-in-laws, Jane Diestelhorst, Betty Lou Mullink, Ruth Ann (Shorty) Biermann, Joann Mullink, and Marie Mullink.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; son, Allen L. Greeling, Jr.; sister, Anna Vahle; three brothers, Marion, Wilbur (Fern), and Dallas (Rose) Greeling; great grandchild, Cody Aubichon; and two brothers-in-law, Don Willis and Lamar Vahle. He was also preceded in death by Tom (Lois) Meehan, Leonard (Rosalia) Rhoads, Leroy (Betty) Scott, Harold Mullink, David Diestelhorst, Jim Mullink, Cletus Biermann, Tom Mullink, Gene Mullink and Frank Mullink.
Friends may call on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 10:00 am until the time of service. Funeral services are Thursday, June 12, 202,5 at 12:00 PM at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill with Pastor Fred Kraemer officiating. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, IL.
Memorials are suggested to Shriners’. Following the committal service there will be a luncheon at the Bunker Hill Community Center. Kravanya Funeral Home, Bunker Hill is in charge of the arrangements.
