To the community,
We are contacting you as dedicated advocates of Crime Stoppers programs throughout Illinois. We need your help to inform the taxpayers of Illinois how they can be of assistance to these programs and the Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association. Our organization is known for teaming citizens with law enforcement agencies to solve crimes. We offer anonymity to tipsters and rewards when tips lead to an arrest, not a conviction.
Since its inception in 1983, Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association programs have been instrumental in 117,942 arrests and the recovery of a $152,248,090.00 worth of stolen property and drugs. On the local level, the Macoupin/Montgomery Counties Crime Stoppers has seen that crime really does pay, with over $56,000.00 dollars in rewards paid out since 1991.
With the present state of the economy, crime is on the rise and wallets are tight, but a small donation to the Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association on your income tax will actually help officials start up new Crime Stoppers Organizations. Using Schedule G of the 2011 Illinois income tax return, you can now allocate a portion or all of your tax refund dollars to the Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association. All funds allocated to the Check-Off Program are tax deductible and will be automatically deducted from your tax refund totals.
Since Governor Quinn’s recent announcement declaring an end to state borrowing from Check-Off Program groups, you can rest assured that every dollar you designate to Illinois State Crime Stoppers Association will be used to enhance existing local Crime Stopper organizations and develop new Crime Stopper groups in areas where no such programs exist.
As members of the local Macoupin/Montgomery Counties Crime Stoppers we have received over 1,600 anonymous tips, made over 300 arrests, and recovered nearly $410,000 worth of stolen property. Do you want to help stop crime in its tracks? Would you like to see a Crime Stoppers organization in your County? Please remember to use Schedule G when filing your Illinois income taxes.
