Allan Joseph “AL” Scheller, 63 of Mt. Olive, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 15, 2020. He was born on November 20, 1956, to the late Estel and Margaret (Kilduff) Scheller. He married the love of his life, Lori (Loretta Ingle) Scheller, on January 10, 1976.
He was a proud Union Laborer out of Laborers’ Local #338 for 44 years. He retired in 1999. After retiring, he dedicated his life to his grandsons, family, and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, telling wonderful stories with his fantastic memory. Al was known for his big heart, orneriness, and wonderful sense of humor.
Along with his wife, he is survived by their daughter, Angie (Sean) Abernathy; grandsons, Michael & Ty Abernathy; adopted son and daughter, Kevin & Tricia Carroll; siblings, Bev (Frank) Laurent, Bill Scheller, Dianne (Terry) Zarr, and Nick (Aimee) Scheller; sister-in-law, Gwen (Ted) Caldwell; nieces, Amanda (Bryan) Pfieffer, Beth (Evan) Baugh, Monica (John) Boyer, Natalie (Cory) McCunney, Jessica (Craig) Ulrich, Stephanie Buzick, and Brandi (Josh) Fenton; nephews, Dustin Scheller and Austin (Brittni) Ingle; great nieces and great nephews, Lexi & Braden Pfieffer, Autumn Baugh, Dalton & Taylor Honnies, Gabby & Logan Boyer, Max & Eve McCunney, Becca Scheller, Odin Ulrich, Hedi & Emily Buzick, Christian, Syler, & Lydia Fenton, & Carson Ingle; many cousins; his little B’s and extended family of Laborers’ Local #338.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Mike Scheller; grandson, Sean Abernathy; granddaughter, Tori Carroll; in-laws, Ed Ingle & Mary (Lamar) Urban; brother-in-law, Dave Ingle; and a niece, Michelle Caldwell.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
