Augusta “Gussie” Daugherty, 90 of Carlinville, passed away Thursday morning, May 7, 2020, at Carlinville Rehab and Health Care in Carlinville. Gussie was born on July 6, 1929, in Springfield, a daughter of Roy and Martha Glass Lewis in Springfield.
She married Earl Daugherty May 10, 1952, in Carlinville. Gussie was a school bus driver for over 13 years for the Carlinville School District. She also was the custodian for Carlinville Southern Baptist Church for many years where Earl and herself were instrumental in the building of the church. Gussie loved to go for rides visiting with friends.
Earl and Gussie loved to camp through the United States and visit different parts of the states. She enjoyed her grandchildren and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Gussie is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Crays of Carlinville; grandson, Brian (Jody) Bouillon; great-grandchildren, Dane and Megan Bouillon; step-grandchildren, Matthew Crays, Stephanie Sullivan (Paul) and Lacey Crays; amd step-great-grandchildren, Chloe and Cole Sullivan and Duke Crays.
Augusta was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Tim Rhodus officiating. Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville. Memorials may be made to Cross Church. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
