Edward O. Hormann Jr., 61 of Staunton, passed away at 7:59 PM on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Community Hospital of Staunton. He was born on June 10, 1961, in East St. Louis the son of the late Edward O. and Mary (Way) Hormann Sr.
He was married to Elsie Marie Evans on May 23, 1983, in Yokosuka, Japan and she survives. He retired from WalMart and most recently worked as a department manager at Rural King in Litchfield. Edward was an avid fisherman and a diehard St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He graduated from Livingston High School with the class of 1980.
Edward also retired from the U.S. Navy after serving as a Machinist Mate First Class. He served aboard the USS Towers, USS Lynde McCormick, USS Camden, USS Midway, and USS Independence.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie M. Hormann of Staunton; two children, Troy (Robin) Hormann and Diane Marie Whitlow; four grandchildren, Gage Whitlow, Lilyanna Whitlow, Kaylynn Whitlow, and Conall Whitlow; three brothers, William Hormann, Lenny (Jennifer) Hormann, and Warren (Stephanie) Hormann; two sisters, Barbara (Gerald) Meyer and Mary Hormann; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Hormann and James Robert Hormann.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the Hormann residence at 817 W. Mill St. in Staunton. Memorials are suggested to the family. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
